Frustrated by the poor presentation of long-read features on The Japan Times website, in 2014, I created a full-page “Bootstrap” template that allowed us to showcase our feature articles. As the features section grew I then created a new WordPress template for what became know as the “Deep Dives” section of the JT Online. In total I created over 80 online features for the JT. These included a special section called “Akira Week” that celebrated the 30th anniversary off the manga Akira and another titled “Defining the Heisei” that ran in April 2019 to mark the end of Japan’s Heisei Era.
